Sculpting 2D and 3D Shapes
Actual experiences and observations are more effective in learning concepts than simply being told about them.
Students of Cambridge Class 2 explored the relationship between 2D shapes and 3D shapes by identifying the shapes that can be seen on the face of 3D shapes. They sculpted clay 3D shapes and then sliced them into 2D pieces relating how a cube face becomes a square, a sphere face becomes a circle and so on. The hands on learning activity was thoroughly enjoyed by the students.
