Students of classes 7 and 8 celebrated English Language Day which is also observed as the birth and death anniversary of William Shakespeare.
The U.N. English Language Day, celebrated on April 23, every year, is a part of the initiative of the United Nations’ celebration of its six official languages. Along with English, there is Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian and Spanish Language Day. The day aims to promote multilingualism and create awareness about the culture, history, and accomplishments of the language.
The specific day was chosen eight years ago to commemorate the birthday and death of William Shakespeare.
To observe the day, all the students read and researched about William Shakespeare and shared the same in the class. It was intriguing to know so many new facts about the Bard of Avon - Shakespeare! Some students presented Shakespeare’s famous lines in their own style. Every child participated in his/her own unique way. Children could understand more about the importance of English Day and also, the finesse of the writer William Shakespeare!
