  • Online Capacity Building Programme by SCERT (23 November - 3 Decmber 2018)

  • Workshop on Inclusion and inclusive strategies (28, 29 November 2018)
Ms. Abha Mahajan, Hindi Deptt. and Ms. Princi Girotra, Eng Deptt. attended a 2 day workshop on inclusion and inclusive strategies held at SRDAV School on 28 and 29 Nov, 2018.

Day 1- Principal, SRDAV, addressed and welcomed the participants and the resource persons. The day started with a  very interesting activity. All the participants were divided into teams of two. One of the team members was blindfolded and asked to touch and feel three things while taking a school tour. The other team member had the challenge of giving crisp instructions to the blindfolded member so that he/she doesn’t hurt himself/herself. The impetus behind was to sensitize teachers towards CWSN- children with special needs- and create an empathetic attitude towards diverse needs of such children. An overview of inclusive education was provided and other issues including various facilities provided by CBSE for students with special needs were discussed. Teachers were apprised towards the different impairments, disabilities, and handicaps of CWSN and were provided an explication of the ways through which they can work towards inclusion of these children in a mainstream classroom.

Day2- The day continued with deliberation on the strategies through which a Utopian situation- ‘Education for all’- can be achieved. Discussion regarding differential teaching methods and early intervention plans also took place. The responsibility of school management regarding infrastructure modification was also accentuated. The day culminated with certificate distribution to the participants.

  • Microsoft Innovative Educator Experts Meet (29-30 August 2018)
Ms. Kanchan Khurana, Computer Sc. Deptt, attended MIEE meet in Venkateshwar International School on 29th & 30th August 2018. The objective of the Summit was to empower  schools on experiences that bring learning to life, in and out of the classroom and provide professional development opportunity to collaborate with MIE Experts and share innovation practices in education by MIE Master Trainers.
The futuristic technologies which will drive the change and demonstrate excellence in practice by bringing in voices from the field. The session began with welcome note  by Ms. Pranjali and Mr. Kaushik on basic introduction of the Microsoft tools and  21st Century Learning Design to empower teaching-learning.The   Roles & Responsibilities of MIE Experts in India were shared with all. They talked about  the Criteria for E2 conference. How to create the training tracker and report to Microsoft, the importance of Yammer, integration and collaboration of Skype in the classroom, making use of Minecraft in tutorial/lesson plan and also the use of  Kaizala app was shared.

  • BEST WORKSHOP (28 August 2018)

Ms. Gunpreet Kaur, English Deptt. alongwith Diviniti Kothari XI-J and Rohan Basoya XI-E attended a one day programme on ‘BEST Club Training and Empowerment’ organized by Lung Care Foundation on 28 August, 2018. The eight hour long session or rather the series of sessions entwined in the ‘Training and Empowerment’ program definitely had a very positive impact on everyone, rather turned out to be a real eye opener. It made everyone understand the need to initiate clubs like BEST at the school level and do activities so as to put in efforts for saving the environment and create a greater impact. The fact that big impact, economic solution, socially promotable tasks and tough questioning to ourselves can really make a difference.

 

Workshop for Middle school Maths teachers by Mathematical Sciences Foundation (19, 20 July, 2018)

A 2 day workshop(19 July - 20 July) for middle school Mathematics teachers was organised by Mathematical Sciences Foundation.Ms. Anjali Bagga and Ms. Misha Khanna attended the workshop held at S. D. Public school Pitampura on 19 July 2018.

Day1

The focus on 1st day was to help transform the entire teaching-learning process into a more student-centric experience and to provide innovative and valuable resources to the participants.Various maths kits designed by Math Ed Labs(MEL) were explained to the participants along with the opportunity to design a lesson plan using the kit.

In the Second session participants were briefed about GRAY the school app. GRAY app allows the teachers to extend the classrooms by providing one touch services with the app to help stay in touch with the teachers parents and the staff members. The facilitators can share photos,PDF notes,homework,attendance and important notification to all the parents without disclosing the contact number.

Day 2

Day two started with an interesting discussion on mathematics in daily life. The googly questions like how to measure the circumference of the earth and how to measure the height of a building without using any scale were thrown up on the participants which forced then to scratch their heads.

Mr Dinesh Singh ex vice chancellor of Delhi University took over for an engrossing session and encouraged the teachers to take the students out of the classroom so that they can think out of the box and practically solve the problems and become lifelong learners rather than cramming parrots. Participants were enlightened by the thought provoking session.

  • Workshop on Youtube in Education (5 May 2018)

“Technology plays a transformational role in enhancing access to quality education and learning!!”

Ms. Gunpreet Kaur, Eng Deptt and Ms. Misha Khanna, Maths Deptt attended a one day workshop on the basics of getting started on YouTube, as well as building and growing our channel. The agenda for the workshop was as follows:

  • Introduction to Learning content on YouTube
  • Top EduTubers shared their journeys and their secret to creating engaging  learning content
  • Lesson Plan: How to prepare material for a YouTube video
  • Create a video: Production 101 with basic equipment
  • Get on YouTube: Set up a channel, upload a video, go Live!

The session was really enriching. It was exhilarating to interact with top youtubers who made us understand the benefits of augmenting technology in classrooms via youtube videos. The correct approach to creating content was also shared. The resource person(s) appropriately shared with us the various tips and tricks for creating intriguing content. Top educational youtube channels like Let’s talk, skillopedia, Study IQ Education and Examfear education were introduced to us. It was really insightful to have a one on one conversation with the creators of these channels during the workshop. The concept of copyright issues was also touched upon. The session culminated with the discussion of best practices while creating youtube content.

  • Capacity Building Programme conducted by CBSE (23, 24 April, 2018)

A capacity building programme was conducted by CBSE at Maharaja Agarsain Public Schoo, Ashok Vihar, Delhi. The two teachers Ms. Anita Chadha and Ms. Anjana Taneja participated in the workshop. The objective of this programme was to discuss the nitty gritty of the changes in class IX English syllabus. In addition to this the emphasis was given on conducting listening and speaking skills. The teachers from all the schools shared with each other their strategies to take up art of story writing in their class.

  • British Council - Core Skills Workshop
Three day workshop was organised by British Council - Core Skills Workshop on Communication and Collaboration and Critical Thinking and Problem Solving  for School leaders, held at DLF Public School, Ghaziabad. The workshop was attended by Ms. Prerna Kumar from Kulachi Hansraj Model School The workshop introduced various interactive approaches and techniques to teachers to develop and practice to integrate the core skills effectively into the curriculum. CPDT ( Continuous Professional Development for Teachers) aimed to create the space for creativity and innovation inside and beyond the classroom. To meet the challenges of the 21st century, change in the system has to be looked into and the role of the teachers was recognized and redefined. And, for change to be effective, incorporating core skills amongst our students has become the primary responsibility of every facilitator.
  • Participation in Global Millennial conference 2018 at BITS Pilani Dubai Campus held on 27.1. 2018.

Ms. Rashmi Kathuria, PGT(Mathematics) attended a one day conference GMC 2018 held at BITS Pilani Campus, Dubai. More than 50 Principals and Educators from India and Dubai were welcomed by red carpet walk for the first ever conference to demystify the Millennials. Guest of Honour Mr. Pankaj Bodkhe shared his kind words with the gathering. Esteemed speaker Dr. Chandra Shekhar talked about objective of Education as a collective process in a continuous manner. Mr. Anjum Rajabali shared on stories as catalysts for growth. Mr. Datta Dave shared his views on modern media and communication . Ayush Chordia, co-founder of the wrappup app gives a millennial’s point of view as he shared some of his personal and professional experiences. A students panel shared their views and thoughts on the importance of international exposure in the education industry. Shivam Naik decoded the millennial enigma, and talked about what can drive the younger generation to love what they do. Theater Director and Writer Akarsh Khurana talked about What makes storytelling crucial while communicating with millennials? The conference was followed by Award Ceremony GISA 2018. Our School received Global Innovative Schools Award. Students of BITS Pilani gave a wonderful dance and musical presentation to end the ceremony.

  • Professional Development Training on using Microsoft tools held on 22.1.2018
Ms. Chandeep Marwah, Consultant, Microsoft Learning visited our school for training teachers on using Microsoft tools. She told them about add in feature of Onenote immersive Reader, that included in OneNote Learning Tools,which is a full screen reading experience to increase readability of content in OneNote documents. It is designed to support students with dyslexia and dysgraphia in the classroom, but can support anyone who wants to make reading on their device easier. She explained the usage of class notebook of O365 features like Collaborating space, Content Library, Student notebook. How we can make content rich sway for our lesson plan? It was an enriching experience for teachers to make their teaching-learning innovative for 21st century learner in their classroom. Following teachers attended the trainning programme.

  • Professional Development of Social Science Teachers held on 8th & 9th January, 2018

Ms. Jaya Sharma and Ms. Aditi Sharma from Social Science Department, attended two days capacity building programme held at Mamta Modern Sr. Sec. School, Delhi on 8th and 9th January, 2018. The Resource Person for the workshop was Ms. Shalini Swaroop. The objectives of the workshop were to understand the relevance of studying history and to equip teachers with the necessary skills and latest changes in history curriculum.

  • Online Webinar - Ms. Anita Chadha, TGT(English) attended a webinar on Difficult Dialogues on Understanding Extremism organised by Generation Global, Tony Blair Foundation, UK on 12.10.2017.
  • Online Course - Ms. Manju Kapoor, Supervisory Head (Class 11-12) received certificate of achievement for completing the online course on Physics of Semiconductors from 15 Aug-20 Nov, 2017 by Centre for Development of Technical Education, IIT Kanpur.
