Shrimati Santosh Taneja Digital Library
In an effort to harness the best and latest resources, Kulachi Hansraj Model School, Ashok Vihar has set up the Smt. Santosh Taneja Memorial Digital Library. The library was inaugurated by School Chairman Shri Shreedeep Omchery and revered dignitaries, Dr. B. Nityanand , Addl. Director DRDO, Dr. Ashok Kapoor, Scientist G, DRDO, Ms. Amita Mohan, Principal Amity School and daughter of late Smt. Santosh Taneja, the founder Principal of KHMS.
The digital library has integrated library software and maintains a computerised catalogue of its entire collection of about 90000 books and eBooks. It also provides free and easy access to thousands of books through Britannica and the Ministry of HRD digital library bank. Information through e-books and others are available for various subjects. All the latest books of different authors and publishers are available for students as well as teachers.
There is a wide range of English and Hindi fiction books, inspirational books, biographies, career, sports, health, home science, arts, environment, quotations etc are available for users. Children can explore the plethora of knowledge and reservoir of information in the library through the net as well as on the kindle available in the reading section.
The Chairman in his inaugural address expressed his appreciation for the pioneering initiative under the guidance of Principal, Ms. Sneh Verma.
Library Automation
The library is using integrated library software and has maintained a computerized catalogue of its whole collection. A book can be searched by author, title, publisher etc.
Lending Section
This section contains all the books meant for borrowing by its users. These books are of various subjects for classes I to XII. The books range from all subjects of varied interests as well as subjects of all three streams i.e. humanities, commerce and science. All latest books of different authors and publishers are available for students as well as teachers. Apart from, subject books, a wide range of english and hindi fiction books, inspirational books, biographies, career, sports, health, home science, arts, environment, India, quotations etc are available for users.
Magazines/Newspapers
Library is subscribing approximately 40 magazines and 7 national dailies for its users. These magazines cover different aspects like, educational, motivational, competitive, interior, health, political, hindi literature, sports etc.
Digital Zone
Library also has three kindles of latest versions for its users. They can use these e-readers for accessing various books, magazines, newspapers etc available in electronic form.
Infrastructure
The library is equipped with latest furniture for leisure reading, Led lights, ACs etc giving all comforts and pleasant atmosphere to its users. The library is divided into two sections: Reading Section and Lending Section.
Reading Section
This section is sitting area for library users. Here, users can sit comfortably to read and use the books and other materials for their reference. This section has reference books that are meant to be used in library only. These reference books comprises of multivolume sets of different encyclopedias, atlases, dictionaries(English, Hindi and Sanskrit) and a variety of general reference books of reputed publishers.
Apart from it, there are books for preparing specific competitive exams like SAT, GMAT, TOFEL, IELTS etc. There are a variety of competitive books of different like Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Maths for preparing IIT and Medical exams.
The Library has many computer systems providing internet surfing facility through wi-fi for its users. Users have access to internet for searching information on internet. Our library has purchased 35 E-books which are linked to our school official website and can be accessed by our users. These e-books are on various topics of different subjects like science, social science, maths, english and history. Users can also access to library blog- khmslibrarybytes.blogspot.in through our school website which enables them to know about their library. Users can also access to free e-books available on net provided by MHRD, National Digital Library etc.
